Wie immer bei Zoom Club, beginnt das Tape auch am letzten Tag des King Crimson-Gastspiels einige Minuten später als das Konzert. Diesmal sind es leider sehr viele Minuten. Am 15ten April 1971 haben sich die Frankfurter selbst übertroffen, so dass nur die zweife Hälfte des Auftritts aufgenommen werden konnte. Es fehlen also "Cirkus", "Get thy bearings" und "21st Century Schizoid Man".
Dafür gibt es eine nach meinem Eindruck besonders launische und wütende Version von "Pictures of the city". Anschließend werden wir Zeuge, wie Boz Burrell sich mal wieder an den Titel "Sailor's Tale" nicht erinnern kann. (Wie konnte sich der bloß die Texte von Sinfield merken?). Das für Burrells Gedächtnis immer noch unbenannte Stück bietet relaxte Solos von Fripp und Collins. Im weiteren Verlauf erklingt etwas, was ich als Fripps E-Piano-Begleitung zum sich steigernden Flötensolo interpretiere. Bemerkenswert ist der anschließende Übergang zum bekannten Mellotronthema, das offenbar von Fripp gespielt wurde.
Burrels Gesang hat auf "In the court of the crimson king" an Sicherheit gewonnen. Das Stück verlangt aber nun mal nach voluminösen Stimmen.
Vor dem abschließenden "Devil's triangle" stellt Fripp noch einmal humorvoll die Bandmitglieder vor. Am Schlagzeug saß demnach "Hammerhand" Wallace und Boz Burrell war zuständig für Gesang und "sometimes" auch für die Bassgitarre. Beides deckt sich mit meinem Eindruck. Bei der Erwähnung von Sinfield verfremdet dieser Fripps Stimme am Mikrophon, so dass sich der Gitarrist das Lachen kaum verkneifen kann. Immer wieder für witzige Überraschungen gut, dieser Herr Sinfield...
Wie bereits angedeutet, wird hier zum vollen Download-Preis leider nur ein halbes Konzert geboten. Daher ist das wahrscheinlich nur etwas für unbeherrschte Sammler.
