Whilst the type of care required from an unpaid carer differs from one unpaid carer to another, every unpaid carer has the same common difficulties to cope with. Loneliness, tiredness and worry that they're not doing a good enough job. Why? Because often they've had no prior experience of caring. They've had no training on how to care for someone. By picking up additional caring responsibilities for another person they become 'Time poor'. Quite often there are simply not enough hours in the day. This Christmas please consider gifting an unpaid carer with a gift of time by paying for a respite break hour for them. A £20 donation with gift aid will allow an unpaid carer to have 1 hour to themselves. Caring for someone else is the greatest sacrifice one person can give to another. They deserve it 🙏

I have to share this post for two reasons. One is that I am a proud trustee for Humanimal Trust and really believe in One Medicine for humans and animals (watch the video - Noel explains it better). The second is that I know how many will appreciate how ridiculously cute Noel’s cat, Richochet, is! #onemedicine #humanimaltrust

During the holidays, your support for NCVAN helps us bring light to those who may be having trouble finding joy in the season. The grief journey is always difficult, but holidays can be especially challenging. This holiday season, we hope you’ll show up for the NCVAN community by sharing your support. Consider gifting a present with impact, like a recurring donation in support of NCVAN, to make this season a little warmer. https://lnkd.in/gSwQPdNF

Holiday Grief Tip #9: Beauty in brokenness. One of my favorite metaphors for grief has always been kintsugi. Kintsugi repairs pottery with gold - highlighting the beauty in brokenness and imperfection. Kintsugi shows us how good can come from pain. This holiday season, one way to create good from your grief is to give back. Make a donation to a charity that means a lot for you, buy gifts for a family in need, or donate to an organization that was important to your loved one. Helping others can bring beauty to our individual and collective brokenness.

For veterans and first responders with an OSI, equine-assisted therapy can help them develop crucial skills for recovery, such as emotional regulation, self confidence and communication. This is because horses are non-judgmental as well as experts at reading body language and non-verbal clues. Through learning about and caring for them, we ultimately learn more about ourselves. Would you like to be a part of making Can Praxis' programs accessible to all participants? Until March 31, we're involved in Make It Monthly, an initiative run by our main donation platform CanadaHelps. For each new monthly gift of $20+, CanadaHelps will give an additional $20! Double your impact today: https://loom.ly/TlQZAkMPlease note that this initiative only applies to new monthly donors and not one-time donations. Donors who're already making monthly donations or who've made monthly donations to Can Praxis in the past are not eligible.#canpraxis #canadahelps #makeitmonthly #equinetherapy #strongertogether 💗🐴
