Gordon Ramsay is branded stingy for offering SIX chips with steak (2024)

Gordon Ramsay has been branded stingy for only offering six chips with a steak at one of his posh restaurants.

The foul-mouthed telly chef is offering it up as part of a summer meal deal.

The 57-year-old's Instagram account boasted about the grilled flat iron steak which is served up with chunky chips and fancy corn chimichurri sauce.

It costs £19.50 at his Heddon Street Kitchen eatery in upmarket Mayfair, west London.

But foodies were all quick to say the same thing about the lack of fries.

One commenter said they don't want their chips to look pretty, they just want a whole plate full of fries

The meat is sliced and the sauce drizzled over the top with a salad garnish.

But there are just six chips piled up in a tower on the plate.

One social media commenter fumed: 'Six chips, come out of it.Who you kidding? Give me a plate of them.'

Another joked: 'How tight on the chips? I've had fish and chips there and thought the fish had ate the chips.'

A fellow follower wrote:'Looks good, I would like more than six chips though please.'

Brandon Larnell said: 'Please don't make my fries look cute and put more on the plate.'

Another - named Patrick - exclaimed: 'Six fries?'

Jean said: 'Cool where's the rest of the chips?'

Christie added: 'Six chips? I'd flip the table.'

Ramsay said: 'On Heddon Street Kitchen's new set menu, tasty flat iron steak served with chunky chips.'

But Liz Harris said: 'Looks super good.'

Lacey Mckinnley gushed: 'That looks delicious.'

Eugen Kholodiy added: 'Oh this is so tasty.'

Although some complained about the lack of chips, many admitted the dish looks delicious and said they'd love to try it

Diners were disgruntled over the lack of chips and said they would need a lot more than six to be satisfied

The steak and chips does come with a starter or dessert as part of the price.

The summer set menu is £19.50 for two courses or £24.50 for three.

But it is only on weekday lunchtimes and afternoons and not available for groups bigger than 12.

It comes after diners branded a Gordon Ramsay burger a 'f***ing mess' because it has cheese sprinkled on top of the bun, making it difficult to eat.

The dish - which according to the online menu costs £18 and comes with fries - is stuffed with a double beef patty, American cheese, onion andSriracha mayonnaise.

The TV chef is selling the Next Level Burger at nine Street Burger restaurants across the UK, but social media foodies have slammed the meal online.

He promoted the dish in a social media post, sharing an Instagram reel with his 17.3 million followers.

In the clip, the burger is also topped witha spoonful of mac and cheese.

'Treat yourself to a tasty Next Level smash stack this weekend at @gordonramsaystreetburger!!' the cook wrote.

Commenters however appeared less than impressed with the offering.

'Looks a right mess,' one wrote, hitting out at the sauce and toppings spilling out from the bun.

'Looked great until you put that white stuff on top,' another added.

Another penned: 'Making a burger that isn't easily picked up shows fundamental misunderstanding of a burger.'

Elsewhere, one person simply instructed that the chef 'start over'.

'Looks delicious but how are you supposed to eat that?' one commenter questioned.

'Way too messy to pick up and eat,' another remarked.

Others also took issue with the price, adding that it was pricey for Britons going through acost-of-living-crisis.

'I'm sure it tastes nice but I don't think the wallet would agree.'

Yet some fans were more convinced, and found the meal looked 'smashing' and 'incredible'.

MailOnline has reached out to Gordon Ramsay Restaurants for comment.

Meanwhile earlier this year achef who starred on MasterChef Professionals criticised Gordon for his 'dry' upmarket burger.

The Double Stack Smash Burger is being sold for £29.50 at luxury retailer Harrods, located in Knightsbridge, London, and isthe most expensive burger on the menu.

Diners will tuck into a double smash Parmesan beef patty, mozzarella, roasted jalapenos, rocket, pickled shallots and jalapeno mayonnaise.

But after a video of Gordon's dish was shared by Harrods on Instagram - which now appears to have been deleted - he was slammed in the comments by customers and fellow chef, Michael Carr who said: 'Burger looks so dry.'

Mr Carr starred on the BBCshow in 2019 and owns his own catering business called Carr's Catering.

He posted on his Facebook business page and wrote: 'Two years [ago] I stepped in [the] MasterChef UK and it was hard and the pressure was unreal but I f**k[ing] did it and to cook for Marcus Wareing and Greg Wallace and to have their feedback was brilliant.

'So glad I got to live out a dream!!'

He caters for private dinner parties, weddings and has 5 star rating online.

Harrods captioned the video of Gordon's dry burger:'A moment for the burger of the month.Inspired by our head chef's memories of her grandma cooking meatballs.

'This double-stacked smashed beef and Parmesan smash burger is topped with roasted jalapenos, mozzarella and a jalapeno mayonnaise.

Plain fries cost an extra £8.50 on top and fancier options, such as truffle Parmesan fries will set you back £12.50.
